Blue Roof Drains for an Office Building in Oslo

Scope

In 2024, construction began on a large office building project located at Fredrik Selmers vei 2 in Oslo. The total area covers approximately 26,000 m², situated in Helsfyr, close to the major public transport hub with metro and bus connections.

The purpose of the project is to create a modern office building that offers attractive work environments and meets high environmental standards.

What the Client Needed

As with many new developments in the city, there are strict limitations on how much stormwater can be discharged into the sewer system from the roof. The water therefore needs to be retained in a so-called Blue Roof system.

The client’s need was to install drains systems capable of distributing the water flow correctly across the roof.

Solution

A Blue Roof solution is a roof design intended to temporarily store rainwater and then release it in a controlled manner over time. The purpose is to reduce the load on the stormwater drainage system, which is precisely the goal in this case.

The solution consisted of 41 roof drains, where BLÜCHER assisted with design and calculation to ensure the correct water volume for each drain.

Results

The work on the roof drainage system progressed smoothly, and both BLÜCHER and the installation project manager, Patrick Søderstrøm, were very satisfied with the process and the overall progress of the construction.
